Why have I switched to Shopify? Well, there were a few reasons I couldn’t ignore at WooCommerce. First of all - their hidden costs. It was free to download, but than it become require investments — a fee for hosting and for additional functionality. The next reason was vulnerability. And the last but not the least was the problem with support. Since WooCommerce is an open-source e-Commerce plugin, it doesn’t have a dedicated support. The only help was the community of WooCommerce Store owners and thats all. My colleagues recommended Shopify as a better alternative and they were right. There were only a few simple steps on the way to perfection.

Everyone recommends this platform because today Shopify is one of the best and most reliable eCommerce software that serves over 325,000 of businessmen worldwide. If you are looking to build a complex, still easy-to-use online web store to sell goods, Shopify is what you need. It is a ‘pure’ eCommerce builder. Having a good documentation and tutorials, Shopify is simple to use. It is suitable for any niche whether it's products or services. With Shopify you can launch your store in just a few clicks. All menus, panels and settings are user friendly. You don't need any special skills in web development and e-commerce. If you want to make a unique store, Shopify experts can help you. Most of the themes offered by Shopify for the websites are already mobile friendly. So, you need not worry about getting your site converted separately into a mobile-responsive one. With Shopify you can easily start your business (with a minimal functional) and grow to huge scales (increasing volumes and functionality). And you do not have to change the platform, as happens with Wix, Etsy, Wookommerce and others.

Convenience. Variety. Competitive pricing. Promotions. Trends. Niche products. These are just a few of the buzzwords you will hear jump out when discussing the enormous global ecommerce industry. Nowadays, it’s vital for businesses to connect with consumers in the virtual market or risk being left behind and forgotten. But what about business owners that aren’t web dev or marketing gurus? Rest assured, Shopify exists to help you migrate your business to the web, design and market your brand, and start making sales in no time.

I build WordPress sites with WooComerce regularly and have worked on an already built Shopify site. In my experience WordPress and WooCommerce is a much more flexible, extensive and customisable platform. However to get the best experience out of it you need a developer, someone with experience or be prepared to spend lots of time becoming that person with experience. It requires more configuration, maintenance, updates and you have to source your own hosting. Shopify is much easier to set up and provides a smoother customer and admin experience out of the box. But it is limited in customisation and not as flexible. The upside is that Shopify handles your hosting and updates for you as well.

If you just want to get up and running selling for a minimal investment Shopify is definitely the way to go. It's super easy to setup, you can change themes whenever you want and customize themes as well. The product setup is pretty clunky so it's not good for complex products with lots of options but if you're just selling a few simple products it's a no brainer.
