Square is a payroll software provider that makes it easy for businesses to manage all of their payroll processes online. Users of the software can pay their employees and contractors while also keeping up with state and federal employment taxes.

Pricing:

Square payroll has a single subscription fee of $29.00 per month plus $5.00 per month per person.

Review:

Square is very easy to use and its inventory management is simple. It has all of the expected standard payroll features, such as automated taxes, compliance management, payroll reports, vacation tracking, and phone and email support.

Square is one of our payroll software providers for small businesses and offers a wide variety of useful features, including built-in timesheets, flexible payment schedules, integrations with accounting and time-tracking software, digital paystubs, mobile access, and overtime tracking. Square is lacking an employee database, but if your business is in need of this feature, you can look to Gusto, Zenefits, QuickBooks, or Fingercheck, which all have similar features to Square.

Users of Square can enjoy many less common payroll features, such as the ability to make contractor payments, unlimited payrolls, new hire reporting, data migration, and the ability to export payroll data as a spreadsheet or plain text. Square has no payroll setup fees and is useful for automatically sending details to your accountant for FICA tip credit tax incentives on restaurant corporate returns.

At $29.00 plus $5.00 per employee per month, Square Payroll is slightly less expensive than Gusto which starts at $39.00 per month + $6.00 per employee, but more expensive than Zenefits starts at $6.00 per employee per month.

Square also offers an advanced POS system that can be fully integrated with the payroll platform for convenient payroll management in a retail business. Employees can clock in and out through the Square POS system, and their hours will automatically be uploaded into Square payroll for easy timekeeping.

I'd recommend Square Payroll for US based 1099 contractor payments. They handle sending the tax forms to the contractor at the end of the year and the ACH transfer. The only bummer is that they don't support recurring, i.e. each month send $X.

Payroll service hands down! And I would suggest Square payroll, you can’t beat the price. $29 a month for full service payroll and $5 per employee, and Square files all your taxes for you, and gives the employee/contractor a portal to login to on board themselves and see their pay stubs. Square payroll syncs with Tsheets, Quickbooks online, and includes Alice for free. And Square has a contractor payroll service for $5 a month per contractor unlimited payments all made direct deposit, and Square processes the 1099’s at year end. You just can’t beat this price for anyone else! And yes I use this service for some of my clients too!

We use square payroll and are quite happy with it. They debit direct deposits and taxes each pay period and pay and file the taxes for you. It's $25/month plus $5 for each person on payroll who gets paid. Even if you have 6 employees, if one of them doesn't work, you wouldn't pay the extra $5 for them that month.

I’m happy with Square Payroll. Very very good pricing, but we also use square for CC processing.
