Pros and Cons:

Pros

  • Cloud-based scheduling, billing, and document storage.
  • Paperless intakes and online bookings.
  • Unlimited document storage.
  • Add an unlimited number of clinicians.
  • Mobile app for iPhone and Android.

Cons

  • Not designed for specialty practices.
  • No integrations.

Review:

SimplePractice is a complete practice management system specifically designed for small practices. The all-in-one cloud-based software includes scheduling, billing, medical records, and communication features that can be accessed on desktop computers and mobile devices.

As the name suggests, SimplePractice is an easy-to-use, baseline software with limited functionality when compared to brands like InSync or iPatientCare. For example, the software is not designed for specialty practices with a limited selection of templates and no integrations with external medical services; but it does come in at a fraction of the cost.

Highlights:

  • Paperless intakes.
  • Secure client portal.
  • Online appointment bookings.
  • Custom note templates.
  • Integrated online payments.
  • Secure messaging.
  • Add an unlimited number of clinicians.
  • Unlimited document storage.
  • Mobile app for iPhone and Android.

Shortcomings:

SimplePractice is a very basic EHR system that struggles to scale. It does not offer medical integrations and is not ideal for practices with specialties like OB/GYN, gynecology, or cardiology. While it can be used for multiple practices, it costs an additional $39.00 per month per additional clinician.

Reputation:

Reviews for SimplePractice are generally favorable with most clients commenting on the ease of use of the system. Some Capterra reviews mention that the calendar and billing functions could use a more intuitive interface and additional functionality.
