I have a Delta Amex platinum card ($199/yr), and an Amex platinum card ($599 I think per year). The Delta branded card gets you, basically, Zone 1 boarding, a free checked bag, and the ability to save $100/ticket per 10,000 skymiles points. It also gets you a "companion ticket" on one domestic flight per year. Well, I just made Delta Silver Medallion so I get those first two perks now even without the card. The third can be useful but the 4th is very limited. I found out they only allow certain fare classes and almost always need a three-night stay. So rarely if ever would it work for, say, a weekend trip. So I'm getting rid of the first card.

The signup bonuses are good but tie you to Delta and their reward availability. A lot of people call Delta miles "skypesos" because they're not a great value. I'd check out Chase cards.

The Delta bonuses are really intriguing. I wouldn’t say they are the best in the game right now by any means, but for someone who flies Delta a lot, or who has already run through a lot of other good card bonuses, they can be quite lucrative. The Delta gold is the easier, low-cost entry into Delta miles, but the Delta Platinum offers other benefits that might appeal to a more experienced traveler.
