Reviews of Elasticsearch:
Its hard when you or your team are not that fluent at using the tool. Especially in the enterprise search use case, it is not as easy out of the box as, say, solutions from Algolia. To be sure, Elasticsearch is way more powerful and flexible, but it’s learning curve is much steeper.
I find Elasticsearch's documentation to be pretty awful. It doesn't help that some examples in the documentation are written in YAML and others in JSON.
For those of you who have tried elasticsearch, you know that using it is not very user-friendly. You may also be aware of kibana–a search and analysis UI for elasticsearch. It’s a tool which is easy to setup (only three steps!) and configures to your needs.
Security is the major issue while dealing with ElasticSearch over MongoDB. In ElasticSearch you don't have user name and password kind of thing which is mandatory criteria for any database whether it's SQL based or NoSQL based.
Query syntax of the Elasticsearch is very powerful, however it is hard to write, especially for beginners.
